ROLLING ROADBLOCKS SET FOR I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY OCT. 8, 2023

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will conduct several rolling roadblocks tomorrow (Sunday, October 8, 2023) on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County.

The purpose is for road improvements.

Starting at 6 a.m., one will start at the 317-mile marker (Highway 127 exit) and another at the 329-mile marker (Crab Orchard exit).

Starting at 7 a.m., one will get underway at the 311-mile marker (Plateau Road exit) and another at the 322-mile marker (Peavine Road exit).

Officials say message boards, road work trucks, and law enforcement vehicles will be present along I-40 and ramps.

Motorists should reduce speed, be prepared to stop and expect delays.

A rolling roadblock is a means of slowing and controlling traffic to work on a section of roadway and allowing a work operation that requires short-duration access to the roadway.
