RSCC MEN’S GOLF CAPTURES TCCAA REGION 7 CHAMPIONSHIP
Roane State men’s golf team captured the TCCAA Region 7 Championship on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Ooltewah Club in Ooltewah, Tennessee, with a strong 36-hole team total of 592. Freshman Andersen House led the way by winning medalist honors with a score of 141, highlighted by a clutch eagle on his final hole. Sophomore Lennon Hill finished close behind in second place at 142, while consistent play from other team members, including TCCAA Region 7 Player of the Year Collin Keino, contributed to the overall victory in a demanding one-day, 36-hole format that tested endurance and mental toughness.
Head coach Chris Griffin credited the team’s improved ability to bounce back from mistakes, noting that the challenging competition they faced the previous week at the Hermitage in Nashville had helped prepare them. Griffin highlighted House’s strong finishing ability, comparing it to his eagle on the last hole the week before, and praised Hill’s rising confidence and consistent spring performance. He also described Keino as one of the region’s most reliable players, capable of posting competitive scores even on off days.
The championship reflects the Raiders’ ongoing emphasis on mental preparation, including work with sports psychology coach Hunter Van Meter, which has helped the team develop better focus and composure. With multiple strong finishes and tournament wins already this season, Roane State now advances to the Southeastern District Tournament at Morristown Country Club on April 27–28, where they will face one of their toughest tests of the year. Coach Griffin expressed confidence that his players, with several performing at a high level, are ready for the challenge.
