A part of a Cumberland County sanitation truck collided with a bridge on I-40 over Highway 70 East just after noon yesterday. Trooper Chris Bennett says the lift on the back of the 2009 Mack GU7 operated by 75-year-old Franklin Cordell Hensley of Crossville was not secured and struck the underneath portion of the overpass resulting in damage. Hensley sustained minor injuries. TDOT closed one lane of travel in the eastbound lanes at the scene as well as Highway 70 under the bridge for clean-up and repairs. As of 3 p.m. this afternoon (Saturday, September 19, 2020) the work continues and is scheduled to be finished by 5 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020.
