SCAM ARTISTS CONTINUE TO CALL CITIZENS IN AREA

Crossville police responded to One Bank yesterday to take a scam report. A female in her 30’s stated someone notified her by phone her bank account was hacked into. The caller said she needed to buy four $500 Target gift cards to correct the so-called problem. The victim went and purchased them and gave him the numbers so he allegedly could replace her lost money. The scammer then hung up. Kroger is attempting to stop the transaction and refund the woman her money before the scammer can redeem the cards. Law enforcement encourages citizens not to fall for scams of this nature.
