SCAM AWARENESS SEMINAR HELD IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY TO COMBAT RISING FRAUD TRENDS
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Crossville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, recently held a scam awareness seminar at Central Baptist Church. Investigators Bobby Moore, Detective Tim Vandever, and Special Agent Kevin Reagan shared the latest information on current fraud trends affecting the local community. Topics covered included scams involving artificial intelligence, technical support fraud, jury duty and warrant scams, cryptocurrency ATM schemes, gift card fraud, and romance scams conducted through social media platforms.
Approximately 40 community members attended the event, with a significant number being seniors, who are often prime targets for these types of crimes. The participating law enforcement agencies emphasized their ongoing commitment to public education and proactive fraud prevention, noting that community awareness is essential for protecting citizens.
The Sheriff’s Office expressed appreciation to Central Baptist Church for hosting the seminar and thanked everyone who attended.
