Law enforcement in the coverage area reports individuals are starting to receive phone calls from people trying to scam them regarding the stimulus check. The caller reports they are from the IRS or the federal government and they’re asking for your bank account number in order to get your stimulus check to you. This is a scam. No one from the IRS or federal government will contact you by phone to get your stimulus check to you. You’re reminded not to give out your personal information over the phone.
