SCHOOL BUS CLIPS POWER POLE IN ROANE COUNTY, NO INJURIES REPORTED

A Roane County school bus carrying students clipped a power pole at the intersection of Chamberlain Avenue and Strang Street around 4:00 p.m. today. Crews from the Rockwood Electric Utility responded quickly, securing the pole and de-energizing the line to allow the remaining students to exit the bus safely.

Students at the scene reported that they were able to get off the bus, though those in the back were instructed to stay inside until the power was cut and the pole was secured. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and it is unclear whether any other vehicles were involved.

We are working to obtain more details from the Rockwood Police Department as soon as possible. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) was also on scene and may be handling the initial report, given that the incident involved a government vehicle.
