SCHOOL BUS DRIVER SAVES STUDENTS FROM FIRE
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A school bus driver is being praised for her quick thinking after a fire destroyed her bus near the US 27 and I-24 split in Chattanooga Tuesday morning.
The driver noticed the bus was “acting funny” and decided to pull over, according to officials.
She promptly called for another bus to transfer the students.
Shortly after, the children were safely moved to the new bus, the first bus caught fire.
Chattanooga firefighters arrived on the scene and put out the blaze.
“The only thing left of the bus were the tires,” said Chattanooga Fire Department Spokeswoman Lindsey Rogers.
No one was hurt, including the driver.
The fire is believed to have started under the hood near the engine.
