SCHOOL BUS SEAT BELT BILL ADVANCES IN THE STATE HO– USE
A bill that could keep school students safer on buses has advanced in a State House Committee. The measure, to require that all school buses have seat belts, was approved Tuesday. The legislation comes as a result of a Chattanooga school bus wreck where 6 children died and numerous others were hurt. Opponents are worried that children may become trapped on the bus in a fire situation or if the bus should end up in water. Earlier this week the House voted on another bill that would require more oversight on school bus drivers.
