SCHOOL THREAT CONFIRMED AS REASON FENTRESS COUNTY SCHOOLS CLOSED

A school threat was confirmed by Fentress County school officials this morning as the reason that Fentress County schools closed for the day this past Tuesday. Director of Schools Mike Jones said this morning that he received a call Monday night from the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department regarding a complaint concerning a social media post of a Clarkrange High School student. Jones said the decision to cancel school this past Tuesday was based on sickness from the flu and for the uncertainty of the situation regarding the threat. Jones added that a school resource officer has been assigned to Clarkrange High School. Fentress County Sheriff Michael Reagon said in a release that any threat made to any school in Fentress County will be taken seriously and will be investigated. Reagon added that they are working in a coordinated effort to make certain that all available resources are used to keep everyone in the Fentress County school system safe.
