SCHOOL THREAT UNDER INVESTIGATION IN ANDERSON COUNTY

Anderson County, TN- Yesterday, a third party reported a CHS student was in possession of a firearm. Within 2 minutes of receiving the information, school administrators and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office School Resource (SRO) located and detained the student in question.
The investigation revealed there was no firearm and no threat existed. Further investigation is currently being conducted.
“First and foremost, I want to say I’m thankful no threat was actually present. The response by Dan Jenkins, CHS staff, and SRO Deputy Jason Lawson was textbook. In short order, the alleged threat was located, a determination was made no threat was present and information was pushed out to the families within 10-15 minutes of the report. Simply an excellent job by all and I am grateful to the other SROs and deputies who responded.” Sheriff Russell Barker stated.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Anderson County School System take all threats of this nature seriously. They stated they will continue to work on how to address these situations and ensure our students and staff are safe.
