The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a second accident Sunday at the 315 mile marker of I-40 in Cumberland County. A 1997 Peterbilt tractor-trailer operated by 63-year-old Glenn Pierce of Cookeville was traveling east and had to stop quickly to avoid hitting other vehicles stopped for a separate accident. This cause the trailer to swing around and strike the cab. Pierce was restrained and not injured. Traffic was backed up for a few miles at one point because of the crash.
