SELBY ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT OF WAFFLE HOUSE EMPLOYEE

Wednesday afternoon, Crossville police were dispatched to the Marathon station by Waffle House for a report of a woman with a knife scaring customers.

When they arrived, they found 45-year-old Sally Renae Selby sitting on a bench in front of the store, holding an open knife. Police were able to get the knife away from her and secure it.

An employee of Waffle House approached and told police Selby had threatened her, saying she was, according to the arrest report, “going to blow her brains out and slit her throat.”

The employee said Selby, who had been banned from Waffle House, tried to enter the restaurant, but was stopped at the door. At that point, Selby started to pull the knife from her purse; the employee went inside the restaurant and shut the door.

Selby admitted to police she had gone to Waffle House. While police were handcuffing her, Selby “had a spontaneous utterance and stated that she knew she should have slit her throat.”

Selby was arrested for felony aggravated assault, criminal trespassing and violation of probation. She was held on $7,500 bond and has court appearances scheduled for May 30 and June 3.
