SELF-DRIVING TESLA VEHICLE CRASHES INTO CLINTON DANCE STUDIO; THREE INJURED
Three people sustained minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when a self-driving Tesla crashed into the Dream Dance Studio in Clinton, Tennessee. According to the Clinton Police report, the incident occurred just after 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Market Street. The driver of the blue Tesla told officers she was trying to brake and turn onto Market Street, but the vehicle continued accelerating and plowed through the front right side of the studio instead of stopping.
Two passengers were also in the car, including the vehicle’s owner, who explained that the driver was test-driving the Tesla because she and her husband were considering buying one. The owner noted that the driver had not disengaged the autopilot, which prevented the vehicle from stopping as intended. All three individuals—the driver and both passengers—were treated for minor injuries and transported to nearby hospitals. The building suffered damage to a significant portion of its lower brickwork and several front-right glass windows.
