SEMI-TRUCK CRASHES THROUGH GUARDRAIL ON ROCKWOOD MOUNTAIN I-40

A single-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer carrying approximately 1,000 tires occurred just before noon today on Interstate 40 eastbound near mile marker 341 in East Tennessee. The truck veered off the road, crashed through the guardrail, and overturned, spilling its load and injuring the driver.

The injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, no other vehicles were involved. The crash temporarily restricted one eastbound lane for about an hour while police, fire units, and an ambulance responded. Skelly Wrecker Service from Lenoir City was called to clear the wreckage, requiring access via Old Airport Road, which was closed for over eight hours during the cleanup.

Portions of Old Airport Road may remain closed as the wrecker service transports the remaining wreckage along the road to access Highway 27 en route to Lenoir City. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes.
