SEMI-TRUCK DRIVER CITED IN CROSSVILLE FOR MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF DIESEL THEFT
Ariel Christiaens was cited for theft of diesel fuel from a 7-Eleven store after a police investigation on November 9, 2025. According to a report by the Crossville Police Department, Crossville Police units responded to a report of a white semi-truck stealing diesel but released the driver when the clerk confirmed payment. Subsequently, a representative from the corporate office, contacted the officer and reported that the driver, identified as Mr. Christiaens, had been engaging in a scheme to steal large quantities of fuel over several months, dating back to September 2.
The representative explained that the driver was using a special key to tamper with the fuel pumps, manipulating the gears to pump more fuel than was registered and paid for. On November 9, the driver pumped 217 gallons but only paid for 23, resulting in a loss of over $590 for the store.
A second stop was conducted, and Mr. Christiaens was read his Miranda rights. A search of his vehicle yielded a unique set of keys which were tested on the pump and successfully opened the bottom compartment.
Mr. Christiaens claimed the keys were for a lock he had lost for his refrigeration unit. The key was taken into evidence, and Mr. Christiaens was cited for theft in lieu of arrest.
The report also detailed another incident on October 7 where the store lost 246 gallons of diesel, totaling $851.16 in losses.
