A Cumberland County woman is facing a string of felony and traffic charges following a high-speed vehicle pursuit that spanned multiple counties on September 30, 2026.

According to an affidavit of complaint filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Nicholas Steenbock, the incident began at approximately 9:43 a.m. while the trooper was wrapping up a traffic stop on the shoulder of Interstate 40 near the 330-mile marker. Trooper Steenbock observed a white Chrysler Town and Country traveling eastbound in the right lane without slowing down, despite emergency equipment already being activated.

When the trooper attempted a traffic stop near the 332-mile marker, the vehicle initially pulled onto the shoulder before continuing to drive. A pursuit ensued, extending into Roane County near the 355-mile marker where the trooper’s cruiser suffered a flat tire. After changing the tire, Trooper Steenbock caught up with the disabled vehicle near the 367-mile marker with the assistance of other troopers.

The driver was identified as Serelda Jean Day (born February 10, 1978). Authorities discovered that Day was driving with a revoked license, an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and a registration tag that did not belong to the vehicle.

Day is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on October 22, 2026, for her court docket, facing the following charges:
