SERIAL OFFENDER BENJAMIN REECE FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY COURT

Crossville resident Benjamin Lane Reece faces a lengthy list of criminal charges and traffic violations in the Cumberland County General Sessions Court, spanning multiple incidents from August 2025 through May 2026.

Court records and affidavits of complaint from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office detail a pattern of recurring traffic stops, drug offenses, and weapons charges:

  • August 23, 2025 (Initial Drug & Weapon Arrest): Deputy Tyler Leary conducted a traffic stop on Holiday Drive where Reece was allegedly driving with a revoked license (stemming from a 2021 DUI). A search of Reece’s person and vehicle reportedly yielded approximately 14.18 grams of suspected methamphetamine in three sandwich baggies, along with a Sig Sauer pistol located between the driver and passenger seats. Because Reece is a convicted felon, he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon alongside drug possession and driving on a revoked license.

  • September 29, 2025: Deputies responding to a dog attack call on Ashford Anisee reported finding approximately four pit bulls running at large, resulting in an animal control citation for allowing a dog to run at large.

  • Fall 2025 – Spring 2026 (Repeated Driving Violations): Reece was pulled over multiple times by sheriff’s deputies (including Deputies Zach Early, Holden Atkinson, and Tyler Leary) for equipment and registration infractions. In nearly every instance, dispatch confirmed his driver’s license remained suspended or revoked.

  • February 28, 2026: Deputy Aidyn Smith stopped a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Reece for a broken brake light. A consented search uncovered two burnt glass pipes used for smoking methamphetamine.

  • April 15, 2026 (Evading Arrest Incident): Deputy Caleb Charles attempted to pull over a red GMC truck on Turkeyblind Road with a non-operational tag light. The vehicle allegedly increased speed and swerved across the center line before stopping. Deputies recovered a smoking contraption, a cut straw with powdery residue, and suspected narcotics on a cell phone screen, leading to felony evading arrest and drug paraphernalia charges.

Reece, who is being represented by the Public Defender’s Office, faces multiple counts of driving on a revoked license, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of a weapon, evading arrest, and animal control violations.
