SEVERAL TRAPPING, SMALL GAME HUNTING SEASONS TO CONCLUDE FEBRUARY 28

Tennessee’s statewide trapping seasons for fox, mink, muskrat, otter, least weasel, and bobcat, along with several small game hunting seasons for rabbit, grouse, and quail, are set to conclude on February 28. Hunting seasons for fox, mink, muskrat, otter, spotted skunk, and weasel also end on that date. In contrast, statewide hunting for squirrel, raccoon, and opossum continues through March 15, while species such as armadillo, beaver, coyote, groundhog, and striped skunk remain open year-round with no bag limits.
Trapping for beaver, coyote, groundhog, opossum, raccoon, and striped skunk is likewise open year-round. The spring squirrel hunting season will open next on May 9 and run through June 14. For full details, hunters and trappers are encouraged to consult the 2025-26 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide, available on the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) website at tnwildlife.org, at TWRA regional offices, or wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold.
The TWRA is tasked with protecting and managing the state’s fish and wildlife resources for the benefit of residents and visitors while also promoting public safety through law enforcement and education on waterways.
