SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH ISSUED

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8:00 PM CDT Thursday, May 8, 2025, for much of Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky, including the city of Crossville. The watch area also includes Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Jackson, Cookeville, Shelbyville, and Bowling Green. The National Weather Service warns that scattered severe storms are likely this afternoon and evening, with the potential for hail up to two inches in diameter, damaging wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour, and frequent lightning.

Roughly 4 million people are in the affected area, along with 1,111 schools and 111 hospitals. Residents should remain alert, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be prepared to seek shelter quickly if severe weather strikes. This is Severe Thunderstorm Watch #238, issued by NOAA and the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
