SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THREATEN EAST AND MIDDLE TENNESSEE WITH DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 10:00 PM EDT / 9:00 PM CDT for multiple counties across Tennessee, including Roane, Anderson, Cumberland, Scott, Morgan, Fentress, Loudon, Knox, Rhea, Meigs, McMinn, and Monroe counties.
Conditions are currently favorable for the development of severe weather, bringing potential threats of large hail and damaging winds to the region. While severe weather may not be immediately imminent, residents are urged to remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions.

Active Storms: A strong thunderstorm was tracked near Sparta moving east at 30 mph, bringing wind gusts up to 50 mph and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.

Impacted Areas: Areas including Crossville, Sparta, Pleasant Hill, Doyle, Lake Tansi, and Cumberland Mountain State Park, as well as Interstate 40 between mile markers 308 and 324, are currently affected.

Potential Hazards: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, while lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from a storm.
