SHERIFFS OFFICE INCREASING TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT DURING HOLIDAYS

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to increase impaired-driving enforcement from December 13 to December 31, surrounding the holiday season. The THSO’s statewide Booze It and Lose It campaign is part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over nationwide mobilization. The sheriff’s office is committed to keeping drivers safe on the roads in Cumberland County. During the holiday season, law enforcement will be out in force to aggressively seek out those individuals who make the dangerous decision to drink and drive. The consequences of a first time DUI offender in Tennessee may include costly fines, court costs, legal fees, jail time, mandatory drug and alcohol treatment and or the installation of an ignition interlock device in the offenders vehicle.
