SHOOTING INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST IN PUTNAM COUNTY
On September 21, 2024, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting incident at a local trailer park. Through their investigation, Detectives identified multiple suspects residing in Putnam County.
On September 24, 2024, Putnam County Sheriff Office Detectives Etheredge and Everett interviewed a witness who confirmed the involvement of two shooters. This led to a search warrant being executed at Anderson Ln in Putnam County, with the assistance of PCSO SWAT.
During the search, Elijah Meek was arrested, and the firearm used in the shooting was recovered. A second suspect, a 17-year-old, was located and arrested at a residence in Cookeville. A second firearm, stolen from Sparta, Tennessee, was recovered and seized.
Meek was charged with Criminal conspiracy of attempted first degree murder, and Reckless en-dangerment. Meek is in custody at the Jackson County Jail. Arraignment for Meek will be tomorrow at Jackson County General Sessions Court.
The 17-year-old was charged with Attempted first degree murder and reckless endangerment. The 17-year-old is being held at the Putnam County Juvenile Detention Center with no bond and a court date of September 26. The investigation is ongoing.
