SHOTS FIRED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY RESULTS IN FELONY CHARGES

Cumberland County deputies responded Saturday afternoon to shots fired at a residence on the 1100th block of Frazier Road.

The arrest report states officers arrived to hear gunshots coming from the backyard.

From previous calls to the residence, they knew the homeowner to be 62-year-old Catherine Demar Stinnett.

Officers ordered Stinnett to stand down, put her firearm down, and come to the front of the house with her hands up.

A second set of gunshots went off in the backyard.

Finally, Stinnett presented herself with her hands up.

Officers located a .410 shotgun and a 9mm handgun on the back porch with spent casings.

Stinnett reportedly has multiple alcohol-mixed jello shots in small cups beside the firearms.

A neighbor reported a bullet hit their home during the incident.

When deputies told Stinnett she was under arrest, she reportedly became hostile. She allegedly tried to pull away from officers. Once in the sheriff’s office cruiser, Stinnett attempted to break the window by kicking it.

The officer opened the door to tell her to stop. Stinnett got out and reportedly kicked one deputy in the chest. She kicked another officer.

Stinnett was arrested for possession of a firearm while under the influence, resisting arrest, and two counts each of reckless endangerment and simple assault on a first responder.

She was processed at the Cumberland County jail and placed under bonds totaling $85,000.
