SINGLE-VEHICLE HARRIMAN CRASH SENDS TWO TO THE HOSPITAL

An unidentified woman and child survived a horrific accident late Friday night in Harriman. Sources say a car on Highway 27 northbound near the Emory River Bridge veered off the road and went down the embankment to the lower Riggs Chapel Road below, crossing that road and stopping underneath the bridge. The two were freed from the wreckage by Harriman Fire and Police personnel.
An ambulance took them to a waiting LifeStar helicopter, which flew the pair to area hospitals in Knoxville, where they remain today.
