Geotechnical engineers are investigating a sinkhole on Alcoa Highway near UT Medical Center in Knox County. Middle and right lanes are closed along with the right shoulder. These are indefinite closures. Motorists heading to downtown Knoxville are advised to utilize Pellissippi Parkway and I-40 East as an alternative route.
