SMALL EARTHQUAKE RATTLED MARYVILLE FRIDAY MORNING

Post placeholder image

No one has reported feeling it but the U.S. Geological Survey says it really did happen. A 2.0-magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Maryville this morning. We’ll have to take their word for it that the quake was centered about five kilometers south of Maryville near Kirkland Boulevard.

Small quakes are common in the East Tennessee Seismic Zone. The source of seismic activity in the zone is still not known.
