A 23-year-old Smithville, TN man has been charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl. Police arrested the suspect, Ruben Aluvez Mejia recently on one count of rape of a child. Court records indicate that Mejia engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl on multiple occasions between September and November of this year. She was 11 years old at the time. Mejia is being held in the DeKalb County Jail on a $125,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court next week.
