SOUTHEAST BANK DONATES $45,000 TO FUND DAYTON CITY SCHOOL’S 8TH GRADE D.C. TRIP

Rhea County’s Herald-News reports that SouthEast Bank has generously donated $45,000 to Dayton City School to support its annual eighth-grade educational trip to Washington, D.C. This contribution marks the third consecutive year the bank has provided significant funding for the experience, which allows students to visit key historic landmarks, monuments, and government institutions, thereby extending classroom lessons on American history and civics.
The donation helps lower financial barriers, enabling more students to participate in this enriching opportunity that fosters greater appreciation for government operations and the sacrifices behind the nation’s founding. Superintendent Trish Newsom expressed deep gratitude for the bank’s ongoing partnership, noting that it inspires learning, civic awareness, and lasting memories while underscoring SouthEast Bank’s commitment to the school and broader community.
Eighth-grade history teacher Candice Tilley, who coordinates the trip to align closely with curriculum goals, echoed this appreciation, highlighting the trip’s memorable impact and the reassuring community support it represents. School officials extended sincere thanks to SouthEast Bank for its leadership and continued investment in students and public education.
