SPEEDING ON GENESIS ROAD RESULTS IN WEAPONS CHARGE IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Yesterday, a Cumberland County deputy reportedly observed a driver traveling on Genesis Road going 70 mph in a 45 zone.
The officer stopped 46-year-old Dennis Lee Lewallen of Deer Lodge at the Cumberland/Morgan County line.
The arrest report states Lewallen told the deputy he hadn’t got the vehicle registered, there was no insurance on it, and the tag on the vehicle did not belong on it.
When Lewallen got out of the vehicle, the officer reportedly observed a handgun in the door compartment. Lewallen allegedly told the deputy he found the firearm on the side of the road on Deer Lodge Highway two days ago.
Lewallen advised the deputy he was a convicted felon and was currently on felony probation for drug charges.
Lewallen was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and taken to jail. He was issued citations for speeding, having no proof of insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle on a highway.
