SPOILED BEEF DISCARDED DURING DAYTON RESTAURANT HEALTH INSPECTION
The Corner Spot at 1368 Market St, Dayton, TN, received a routine food service establishment inspection on November 3, 2025, scoring 62 with multiple critical violations. For reference, a failing score is anything below a 70.
According to the inspection report, the person in charge (PIC) failed to demonstrate adequate control over risk factors, prompting a strong recommendation for immediate food safety training for all employees.
Key issues included spoiled ground beef in the prep cooler, improper knife cleaning using only a wiping cloth, foods reheating on the steam table below safe temperatures (rice at 96°F, carrot curry soup at 101°F, tomato soup at 92°F), improper cooling of chicken pot pie and other items while tightly covered, cold holding violations with items like chicken, portobellos, quinoa, and cheesecake exceeding 41°F, inconsistent and expired date marking on items such as bacon jam, salami, and Salisbury steak, missing consumer advisories for undercooked items like tuna poke bowl and eggs on the menu, raw eggs and meat stored adjacent to ready-to-eat foods, employees with unprotected beards or wrist jewelry, food stored on dirty cardboard, dirty microwave surfaces, and walls in poor repair.
Several violations were corrected on-site (COS), with the PIC taking immediate actions such as discarding unsafe food, moving items for rapid cooling, adjusting cooler temperatures, and committing to repairs. Handwashing sinks lacked paper towels, and cooling methods were inadequate. The facility was advised to contact Adam Stroud at 728-7020 for free food safety training.
