A world-renowned Tennessee hospital and research center will be expanding. St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Memphis is known for its treatment of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Plans have been announced to build a $412 million addition that would house advanced research facilities in hopes of attracting scientists and other such experts. It’s all part of a $1 billion capital expansion of the hospital. Officials have scheduled the groundbreaking for the spring with the new center expected to be open in 2021. Architects say that the facility will be designed so that there can be inter-departmental collaboration.
