STANDARDS BOARD ADDRESSES SUSPICIONS REGARDING RECENTLY BURNED STRUCTURE

The Cumberland County Health and Safety Standards Board addressed several property issues during their recent meeting, according to a report by the Crossville Chronicle. They suspended fines and deferred action for 30 days on a property on Andrews Lane, where the main structure was destroyed in a fire currently under investigation as suspicious.

The county has a $12,000 lien on the property, and insurance adjusters are examining the claim. The board also discussed a property on Cherokee Trail in Lake Tansi, where an abandoned trailer and trash prompted a complaint, but the deceased owner’s heirs are untraceable, leading to a unanimous decision to issue a violation notice, potentially through the sheriff’s office or newspaper publication.

A Tabor Loop property case was continued for 30 days due to an ongoing divorce and eviction process, with the new sole owner planning to clean up the property.

Similarly, an Oak Drive property case was extended for 30 days, as no progress had been made on promised repairs, though no violation was issued yet. The board scheduled its next meeting for August 27 at 1 p.m. at the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce conference room.
