Wednesday will be mostly sunny and warm across the Cumberland Plateau and Tennessee Valley. Highs will reach the upper 80s on the plateau and around 90 in the valley. Clouds increase Wednesday night, with just a small chance of a shower late in the Tennessee Valley. Overnight lows will settle into the middle to upper 60s.

Thursday brings the best chance for showers and thunderstorms. Rain and storms become more likely during the afternoon, with a 60 percent chance across both regions. The Tennessee Valley will be the warmer of the two, reaching the upper 80s with the heat index approaching the upper 90s, while highs on the Cumberland Plateau will be in the middle 80s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible Thursday night before chances begin to ease.

A few showers or thunderstorms could pop up again Friday, but coverage should be more limited. Highs will range from the middle 80s on the Cumberland Plateau to the upper 80s in the Tennessee Valley. The weekend then turns drier, with sunshine Saturday and mostly sunny skies Sunday. Afternoon temperatures will remain in the middle 80s on the plateau and upper 80s in the valley.
