STRANGE COUNTERFEIT $50 BILL REPORTED AT CROSSVILLE DOLLAR GENERAL
On Friday last week, between approximately 12:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., an unknown individual attempted to use a counterfeit $50 bill at the Dollar General Store located on Kearney Drive in Crossville.
The bill was noticeably odd in color and featured Russian lettering on both sides, translating to the word “souvenir.” Three days later, on Monday, at 10:24 a.m., Officer Colten Johns and Sgt. Samantha Seay were dispatched to the store in response to the counterfeit currency report.
Upon arrival, Officer Johns made contact with a store employee, who presented the fake bill and provided details about the timeframe of the attempted use.
