SUNDAY NIGHT PLANE CRASH BEING INVESTIGATED IN POLK COUNTY

According to the Polk Co. Sheriff’s office, a plane went down, Sunday night, within the mountainous areas of Polk County in Tennessee. Sheriffs deputies confirmed debris, including parts of a wing and tail portion of the plane were found off Fingerboard Road.

The Federal Aviation Administration says that a single single-engine Cessna 182 crashed near Reliance, TN, around 7:30pm Sunday, May 7.

The pilot was the only person aboard the aircraft. His condition remains unknown. The plane was reportedly registered with the Georgia Company of Aspiring Fliers.

Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.  The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation.
