SUSPECT ARRESTED WITH MULTIPLE AUTOMATIC WEAPONS AND HUNDREDS OF ROUNDS OF AMMO

Washington County Authorities arrested a man Monday during a traffic stop which yielded several automatic weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Acting on a tip Tuesday, deputies, along with other agencies including the FBI, and ATF, searched the Johnson City home of the suspect Scott Edmisten. Officials said that agencies responded to the scene just before Noon after a tip was received that Edmisten may be housing explosives at his residence. Four guns were found in the home with one being altered to become fully automatic. Neighboring homes were evacuated, and although items found at the scene resembled explosive devices, they were determined to be harmless. Authorities say that Edmisten is not cooperating with investigators.
