SUSPECT FACING MULTIPLE THEFT WARRANTS AFTER REPEATED SHOPLIFTING INCIDENTS AT CROSSVILLE WALMART

Reports from the Crossville Police Department detail several separate shoplifting incidents involving suspect Jaclyn Smith at the Walmart located at 168 Obed Plaza in Crossville, all of which resulted in active warrants for her arrest.

The first recorded incident occurred on May 3, 2026, at approximately 10:43 A.M. Security footage showed Ms. Smith skip-scanning merchandise at a self-checkout register, intentionally bagging unpaid items alongside scanned ones, and exiting the store at 10:49 A.M. with $124.55 worth of stolen goods.

A second incident took place on May 20, 2026, at approximately 1:23 P.M., utilizing the exact same method. Ms. Smith scanned some items but failed to scan others before exiting the store at 1:27 P.M. with $70.41 in unpaid merchandise. Both of these prior offenses were reported to Officer Braxdon King on May 31, 2026. After reviewing the surveillance footage provided by Walmart loss prevention for both dates, Officer King met with a judicial commissioner and obtained two warrants charging Ms. Smith with theft of merchandise.

Yet another theft was reported that occured in similar fashion on May 31, 2026, this time mostly involving stolen dog treats and chew toys.

The most recent incident occurred on June 3, 2026. City units were dispatched to the store after Ms. Smith went to a self-checkout register at 10:58 A.M. and left two minutes later without scanning a cooler and a chair, totaling $22.91. Responding Officer Keith Sadula reviewed the video surveillance and confirmed the theft.

Loss prevention noted that Ms. Smith was a known repeat offender from the earlier incidents. Officer Sadula verified her identity by cross-referencing her vehicle’s license plate number and her driver’s license through the police portal. Because Walmart wished to press charges, Officer Sadula requested the surveillance video via an Axon community request, went to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and obtained yet another warrant for Ms. Smith’s arrest.

She was not taken into custody at that time.
