T.H.P. PHONE SYSTEM UPGRADES AND NEW NUMBERS TAKE EFFECT TODAY

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is upgrading its phone system to enhance reliability, security, and performance for public and first responder calls, with the changes taking effect on Wednesday. The new system routes inbound calls over a private, dedicated network instead of the public internet, improving call quality and resolving connectivity issues.
THP Colonel Matt Perry highlighted the upgrade as a major advancement in communications infrastructure, ensuring clear and secure connections for quicker, more effective responses to emergencies, ultimately boosting safety and service for motorists.
Starting Wednesday, new dispatch numbers will be in place for several districts: Knoxville at 865-895-6950, Chattanooga at 423-242-6419, Nashville at 615-986-4986, and Jackson at 731-215-6831. Additionally, the public can continue to reach THP by dialing *THP (*847) from any cell phone.
