T.H.P. PURSUIT ENDS IN FATAL CRASH AT CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 REST AREA

On July 23, 2025, a fatal crash occurred at 140 W 307 in Cumberland County, Tennessee, involving a 2015 Hyundai sedan (Vehicle 1) and a 2024 Peterbilt truck (Vehicle 2). The Hyundai, driven by 24-year-old Nathan S. Click from Tennessee, was fleeing from Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) westbound when it attempted to exit into a truck parking area at the 307-mile marker.
The sedan struck the rear of the Peterbilt, coming to a final rest. Both Click and his passenger, 39-year-old Robert L. Cooper, also from Tennessee, were not wearing seat belts and sustained fatal injuries. The Peterbilt’s driver, 56-year-old Richard L. Owen from Tennessee, was uninjured, and no seat belt information was applicable.
No charges have been filed, pending the investigation’s outcome.
