TBI: 11 CHARGED IN SUMNER COUNTY VOTING SCANDAL

Eleven people are facing felony charges in a Midstate election scandal.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) says agents began investigating in January after reports of 15 convicted felons unlawfully voting in Sumner County elections from 2020 to 2022.

Authorities say four of the felons were deceased prior to the investigation. The remaining 11 “all had been convicted of at least one felony and registered to vote in Sumner County after their convictions, completing documents that included language regarding not having been convicted of a felony.”

Last month, a grand jury indicted the following individuals with one count each of illegal registration or voting and one count of false entries on official registration or election documents. They are all being held at the Sumner County Jail on $5,000 bonds.
