TBI INVESTIGATING OFFICER-INVOLVED FATAL SHOOTING IN HAWKINS COUNTY
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into an incident where a deputy in Hawkins County fatally shot a man during a warrant service. TBI Agents say the shooting occurred Monday afternoon when Hawkins County Deputies were trying to serve warrants out of Dickenson County, Virginia, on 25-year-old Eugene Loftis of Church Hill. In the statement, the TBI says that deputies found Loftis in a car in the driveway of a residence and ordered him to show his hands. The statement says Loftis reached for a gun and a deputy fired shots. Officials say Loftis died at the scene. No deputies were injured and no names were released in the statement.
