TEEN CITED FOR POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
Thursday afternoon, a student at Cumberland County High School student was found in possession of marijuana on school grounds.
School administration and a Crossville police officer encountered the student emerging from a restroom in the F Wing. She had apparently been in there earlier and when she left, the restroom smelled of marijuana. When asked if she had a purse or backpack, the girl denied one.
When officers searched the restroom, they found the door to the handicap stall locked, with no one inside. Upon opening the door, officers found a backpack purse hanging from the hook on the door.
The student, after having first denied it was hers, eventually claimed ownership of the purse. She said she didn’t admit to it initially because she had a marijuana cigarette in the front zippered area.
The underage girl, who will not be identified by 1057 News, was cited for misdemeanor simple possession of marijuana.
