SEARCH AFTER TRAFFIC STOP TURNS UP METH, PARAPHERNALIA
Cumberland County deputies conducting a routine traffic stop on POW Camp Road for a light-law violation Wednesday evening encountered 25-year-old Skyler Bruce Withers of Crossville, who seemed nervous and was stuttering. He kept telling deputies he was in a hurry and “had places to be.”
Withers refused to consent to a search of the vehicle. So the deputy deployed K-9 Officer Niko to perform an open-air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle.
Niko showed secondary indications and gave a final alert for narcotics at the passenger-side door.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up nearly a gram of meth. Withers and his passenger both denied ownership of the drugs. The passenger, Andrea Agusti, who was arrested on three outstanding warrants, admitted ownership of a glass pipe with burnt residue.
Withers was charged with possession of meth and placed under $5,000 bond.
