Blount County sheriff’s deputies were out in force last night and this morning… working with local teens to help them improve their driving skills.

A series of Sheriffs and Teens Against Negligent Driving (STAND) classes taught teen drivers a variety of driving skills that could potentially save their lives – or the lives of their passengers. Among the skills the teens worked on were shuffle steering, evasive maneuvers and threshold braking.

The teens also got the opportunity to drive the same course both recruits and deputies must navigate.
