The Tennessee Department of Revenue issued a warning today about a circulating text message scam falsely claiming to be from their office, promising tax refunds.

The scam directs users to a fraudulent website to provide payment details, threatening permanent forfeiture of the refund by September 20, 2025, if not complied with, citing Tennessee Code Annotated §67-1-1802.

The message instructs users to reply “Y” to activate a link or copy it into a browser.

The department advises recipients to delete the message and report it as spam to avoid falling victim to this scam.
