TENNESSEE BRACES FOR WINTER WEATHER: SNOW POSSIBLE IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS TONIGHT
State agencies and local agencies across Tennessee are gearing up for winter weather this evening into the overnight hours. As the week brings a sharp plunge in temperatures and the possibility of snow in higher elevations, crews have applied salt brine to most, if not all, state routes and Interstate 40 today in preparation for what could bring several inches of snow—primarily in the higher terrain, though valley areas are also being prepped.
In the valley regions, residents should expect mainly cold rain, but when the front moves through later tonight, a light dusting on the ground and roads cannot be ruled out. The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Mark Nagi reported that crews were out Tuesday morning pretreating roads and asked drivers to leave plenty of room for them to work safely.
