Things are beginning to slowly dry out after a horrendous storm system lasting for several days passed through middle and east Tennessee causing wide-spread flooding and evacuations. Record rainfall numbers for the month of February was set by the deluge that made traveling difficult from Nashville to Chattanooga and Knoxville and triggered several flood watches and warnings. In Cumberland County, the Grassy Cove area looked more like a marina as the water level rose to incredible lengths, flooding the entire valley. Numerous roads were closed off to motorists in Roane County and Rhea County by the incredible storms. Spring City was devastated by the flood and two fuel tanks were dislodged from the Big Apple Convenience Store and drifted down Piney Creek. No incidents were reported from that occurrence. Governor Bill Lee declared a Level 3 state of emergency Friday due to the severity of the situation. Forecasters say that the next few days will be pleasant and sunny with the next bout of rain coming towards the end of the week.
