TENNESSEE GOVERNOR PROPOSES $15.3 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has proposed in excess of $15 million in additional funds for mental-health initiatives in the state.
Lee said $11.2 million in new funding would help with funding mental-health services for 7,000 currently uninsured adults through Tennessee’s Behavioral Health Safety Net program; the funds would also cover increased costs at the four regional mental-health institutes in the state.
Another $3 million would go toward the Creating Homes Initiative, which has thus far funded permanent housing for 20,000 people living with mental illness.
Lee is proposing another $1.1 million for expansion of the state’s collaboration with the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network.
He’s expected to provide details of his budget proposal during Monday’s State of the State address.
