TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS ACROSS EAST TENNESSEE

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has announced a comprehensive schedule of sobriety checkpoints across East Tennessee for September 2026, coinciding with stricter state driving penalties enacted in July.
State law mandates advance public notification for these operations. The upcoming schedule includes:
  • Friday, Sept. 4: Anderson County (US 441 at Island Home Baptist Church); Greene County (State Route 340 east of the Greene/Hamblen County line); Knox County (Schaad Road at Pleasant Ridge Road)
  • Saturday, Sept. 5: Grainger County (US 11W near Owl Hole Gap)
  • Monday, Sept. 7: Claiborne County (State Route 33 near Union County line)
  • Tuesday, Sept. 8: Cumberland County (Highway 70 at Pomona Road)
  • Friday, Sept. 11: Hamblen County (State Route 343 Buffalo Trail near Cherokee Drive)
  • Saturday, Sept. 12: McMinn County (State Route 305 at County Road 250); Knox County (Cherokee Trail at Cherokee Bluff Drive)
  • Friday, Sept. 18: Cumberland County (Highway 299 at Airport Road); Greene County (US 321 North of the Nolichucky River Bridge)
  • Friday, Sept. 25: Campbell County (Demory Road at White Bridge); Knox County (Mascot Road at McBee Lane); Roane County (US 70 at Caney Creek Road); Sevier County (State Route 338 at Roberts Road)
  • Wednesday, Sept. 30: Greene County (State Route 93 at The Old Lane’s Grocery Market)
